Meet Our Directors
Currently in her 14th year of teaching, Athena has her MEd & BFA in Theatre Education from UNCG. When not in the theatre or classroom, she enjoys time at home with her husband Joshua, and their children, Piera & Aidan.
He is excited to join the Patriots for his first year teaching. He graduated from East Carolina University with a BFA in Theatre Education and a BFA in Theatre for Youth. When not teaching or building the next set he's relaxing at home with his cats watching and learning about history!
Thank you to our 2019-2020 Patrons! Your generosity supports the performing arts at AFHS.

A word from our students...
Maximiliano Fernandez Escalona
"I love theare because its become my safe space. It's where I can take risks and make mistakes knowing no matter what I'll still have people in my corner. It's also where I know I can help someone else by returning the support they give me."
"I didn't know how much theatre would end up meaning to me when I signed up for a class, but as soon as I did I was hooked. From building sets to preforming on stage, there's something for everyone and so many chances to get involved. Everyone is so welcoming and the auditorium has come to feel like a second home."
"AFHS theatre has not only given me a second family, they've given me a place to express myself on stage. I've loved getting to be apart of past productions and I can't wait to see what brilliant ideas and stories we get to tell in the future! I will never forget the amazing memories the theatre department has given me! I love it!"
